This experience starts with the exterior of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren featuring classical styling elements from the legendary SLR racing cars of the 1950s blended with the sophisticated, avantgarde design language of both the latest Mercedes passenger car models and of the modern-day Team McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 cars.

The long, sweeping lines of the bonnet, the succinctly styled air exits in the wings that ventilate the engine bay, the eye-catching side exhaust pipes, the compact tail and the dihedral doors all breathe life into the SLR legend. Yet the styling is also functional, featuring advanced aerodynamics learnt from the world of Formula 1. The SLR features ground effect for stability and an airbrake for increased downforce and stability under braking.
